UNDP and State Committee for Entrepreneurship sign Memorandum of Understanding
Parties have signed the document in order to facilitate cooperation in the sphere of private sector and entrepreneurship development, raising the level of companies’ corporate social responsibility through joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacity of State Committee of Ukraine for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, NGO’s, private sector representatives and other parties in this sphere of activity.

Center for CSR Development and GC Network Ukraine conducted training on social reporting
The training “CSR Reporting as a Step to Transparency and Accountability” took place in Kyiv on 27-28 of August. The event was a milestone in the process of building the capacity of Ukrainian companies in social reporting. The concept of training has been developed by the Center for CSR Development (Kyiv) in partnership with the Global Compact Network Ukraine and CSR-Company (Austria) and with the support of GC member company HOSHVA PR.

UN Global Compact Network in Ukraine conducted a Clean Up weekend at the Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv
6 July, 2008 On Sunday, 6 July the UN in Ukraine and the UN Global Compact Network in Ukraine initiated and conducted the first practical corporate event within the framework of the National Go Green Campaign – Clean Up Dnipro Day at the Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv. The event gathered over 60 participants, who came to clean up the recreational zone of Matveevska Zatoka from the garbage, in spite of the rain and bad weather conditions.

3 July, 2008. Kyiv, Ukraine. The National Go Green Campaign initiated by the United Nations Office in Ukraine under the auspices of Global Compact Network was launched today in Kyiv at the central National Botanic garden. The Campaign being voluntary initiative aims to reinforce the role of the environmental protection within the context of the country’s economic and social development. The event brought together more than 60 participants, including the senior management of the leading Ukrainian and multinational companies, civil society leaders and media.

5 June 2008. Kyiv, Ukraine. Today, on the World Environment Day, the opening of the exhibition and awarding ceremony of the national photography contest “Addressing Climate Change – Caring About Our Planet” take place in Kyiv. Over 980 Ukrainians submitted their photos taken in 45 countries all over the world to the photocontest that is conducted for the first time in Ukraine by the United Nations office in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and with support of the Olympus company.

One-year Anniversary of the “527” Counter-trafficking Toll-free Hotline in Ukraine
April 25, 2008 – Today marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of the “527” counter-trafficking toll-free hotline in Ukraine. One year ago, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine - a UN country team agency - life:), Kyivstar, and MTS, the three leading mobile operators in Ukraine, confirmed their solemn commitment to cooperate on preventing trafficking in human beings through the establishment of the hotline.

International experts, government executives from Eastern Europe, business leaders, think-tanks and NGOs shared the experiences of poverty alleviation and social inclusion through multilateral partnerships at an international conference organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Conference’s participants called for an immediate response to resist further scaling up of poverty in Ukraine.

IOM and the Global Compact Signatory Galnaftogas Launch Trafficking Prevention Campaign in Ukraine
On February 12, 2008, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine, a UN country team agency, and “Galnaftogas,” one of the leading oil companies in Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Intent to undertake joint and concerted efforts to combat trafficking in human beings and promote the legal and safe migration of Ukrainian citizens.
