Human Rights and Business seminar

“Human Rights and Business” seminar has been conducted on 24 April in Kyiv. The event was organized by Global Compact Secretariat together with the Center for Corporate Citizenship and with the financial support of the company DTEK.

The trainer of the seminar was Ms. Marie Busck, an adviser with the Human Rights & Business Project at the Danish Institute for Human Rights since 2004. She heads the Project’s work on Capacity Building and Country Risk Assessment and has extensive experience in advising companies on human rights standards and integrating processes for human rights compliance and risk management into business practice. Moreover, Ms. Busk has participated in the development of the Human Rights Compliance Assessment (HRCA) tool, including developing specialised versions of the tool (country-specific and topic-specific) and has worked with a broad spectrum of different companies.

She holds a MA in sociology from the University of Copenhagen.

During the seminar the participants got acquainted with the Quick Check - self-assessment tool on human rights risks in company and received a lot of interesting and practical information in the area of human rights and business. Following up the first theoretical part of the seminar, a group game on the real life cases has been conducted. As a result of this practical session the participants created a number of models enabling companies to resolve their human rights issues with the help of the “Quick Check” tools presented. The materials of the seminar as well as presentation of Ms. Busk will be available from our website shortly.
