The international conference “National Strategies on Implementing UN Convention on the rights of people with disabilities: policy, experience, practice”.

The organizers of the event were National Assembly of People with Disabilities, UN Office in Ukraine and Parliamentary Committee on issues of pensioners, veterans and disabled.

The conference aimed to bring attention to the following issues: international experience and cooperation in realization of goals and tasks of the Convention; development and implementation of the national strategies and action plans on people with disabilities; people with disabilities’ participation in social life; information and communication; employment, professional training; health care; justice; violence prevention, etc.

Representatives of a wide range of organizations took part in the conference: members of Parliament, representatives of the Secretariat of the President, Cabinet of Ministers, relevant ministries, international organizations, state institutions from 12 countries, business representatives, NGO leaders.

In the framework of this conference there was a special session “Dialogue of the public and private sectors in promoting rights of people with disabilities”. Among the topics for discussion within this session there was employment of people with disabilities issue and participation of the private sector in promoting rights of people with disabilities. Mr. Volodymyr Galytskiy, Head of the State Employment Service, Ms. Alina Sigda, Head of the PR Department, company Volia and Ms. Oleksandra Sostina, Head of Corporate PR, company Astelit Life presented in the session.
