United Nations Office in Ukraine under the auspices of Global Compact network initiated the largest social advertising campaign on ecological issues in Ukraine

United Nations Office in Ukraine under the auspices of Global Compact network initiated the largest social advertising campaign on ecological issues in Ukraine called “You are dangerously armed”, which will be conducted in the framework of the National “GO GREEN!” Campaign. The campaign is to draw attention of Ukrainians to ecological issues in Ukraine and facilitate positive change in their attitude towards environment and natural resources usage.

“According to United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Report, today Ukraine is one of the least energy effective countries in the world and is 18th in the rating among countries with the highest number of gas emissions per capita, - Francis O’Donnell, UN Resident Coordinator,  commented the relevance of the Campaign. – UN initiative urges a lot of people to not only start thinking about ecological issues but also change attitude towards natural resources which will facilitate the improvement of ecological situation in Ukraine”.

The campaign will cover 350 boards of “BigBoard” Company in 6 cities of Ukraine – Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odessa, Simferopol and Kharkiv. Creative ideas were designed by “Young & Rubicam” creative agency. Within the campaign there were 4 advertising posters designed which inform the public about major ecological issues in Ukraine: energy efficiency, water resources preservation, clean air, garbage recycling.

“We have chosen a special concept for the campaign “You are dangerously armed” – commented Lyudmyla Lytkina, Strategic Planning and Business Development Director of Young & Rubicam Agency. – If you’re misusing electricity, if water constantly drips from your tap, if you drive 500m instead of walking by foot, and if you leave glass and garbage in the park after a picnic, - you pose a serious damage to our planet. In this case irresponsibility is your arms and unprotected planet and its resources are your enemies. In order to strengthen the message we have also used Health Warnings which remind about negative results that could be caused by irrational usage of natural resources”.

““BigBoard” Corporate social responsibility policy foresees active participation in social projects – only this year we have provided 6 thousand of advertising space for different social program. This campaign is extremely important since Ukrainian citizens will be able to experience its results in the nearest future. I hope that our efforts will help to solve ecological issues in Ukraine”, - said Yuriy Charukha, “BigBoard” Director General.
