Extraordinary Steering Committee meeting

Extraordinary meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) in its expanded format with the participation of the heads of working groups (WGs) took place in UN House Ukraine.

Ms. Anna Danylyuk, Global Compact Focal Point, presented main regulations that serve as a basis for WG functioning. Heads of WGs reported about activities and discussed future joint initiatives. 
During general discussion participants analysed main mechanisms for improvement of working group effectiveness, in particular, reporting on regular basis, communication and information exchange between SC and WGs improvement, strategy and plan development for each group. The meeting led to the following steps to be taken:

• To provide Secretariat with the concrete working plans for the groups for the second half of 2009, indicating core results
• To develop common template for the regular reports, to be submitted twice a year;
• To invite heads of working groups to SC meetings with the right of  deliberative vote in order to improve the information flow between Steering Committee and working groups and to strengthen governance of the network.

At the end of the meeting Mr. Jock Mendoza-Wilson, head of the Steering Committee, informed participants about the main outcomes of the World Business Summit on Climate Change (24-26 May, 2009, Copenhagen) which he was privileged to attend. 
Ms. Yuliya Shcherbinina, UN Public-Private Partnership Officer informed Steering Committee about the results of regional GC launch in Crimea.
