The GC network Ukraine received the First Place Award from the National Festival of Social Advertising for its Environmental Social Advertising Campaign
On 10 – 11 December the National Festival of Social Advertising took place at the Cinema House, Kyiv. The environmental social advertising campaign “You are dangerously armed” won the first prize in the category “Social Advertising of Non-Governmental Organizations”. The “Seal the Deal” campaign was awarded with a Festival diploma too
“The Festival coincide with the important climate change event - UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen where – we hope - a fair and effective post-Kyoto agreement will be reached. It is our hope that the environmental ad campaign initiated by the UN Global Compact contributed to the positive changes in the attitudes of ordinary Ukrainians towards environmental protection and use of the natural resources, - noted Ms. Yulia Shcherbinina, Public-Private Partnership Officerat the Un office in Ukraine.- We would also lie to express our gratitude to our private sector partners – BigBoard, Young&Rubicamand

Two days of the Festival offered not only award ceremonies, but also round tables, seminars, workshops, master classes, exhibitions, and networking attended by the representatives of the Advertising Association of Ukraine, Association of the Outdoor Advertising of Ukraine, the National Commission on Social Moral, the League of Social Workers of Ukraine, private companies and charitable founds. The highlight of the Festival was the conference on social responsibility of Ukrainian business in times of crisis.
Overall the organizers of the Festival received more than 850 applications to compete in 11 nominations. “We can witness a new trend in the social advertising development. To create the ads which will help you to convey effectively the social message needs joint efforts of the social workers, government officials, creative agencies and every member of the society. In other words, social advertising requires a systemic approach. And the Festival managed to demonstrate it”, - stated Ms.Tetyana Pyrogova. Executive Director of the Festival.Co-organizers of the Festival are the State Employment Centre of the Ministry of Social Policy and Labour of Ukraine, the League of Social Service of Ukraine, the Advertising Association of Ukraine, Advertising and Marketing magazine.
