Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Compact Forum

On December 6, 2005 the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Global Compact Forum took place in Kyiv. The opening ceremony of the one-day forum started at 15:00 at the Hotel “Natsionalny” (5 Lypska St.). The forum was organized by the United Nations in Ukraine with the support of private sector, government of Ukraine, trade and labor unions. The forum was aimed at promoting the corporate social responsibility concept and Global Compact principles, encouraging the adoption of socially responsible practices as a positive force for change in the Ukrainian marketplace and involving businesses in the socio-economic development process in Ukraine.

This high-level forum brought the representatives of private sector/champions of CSR, Government of Ukraine, UN Agencies, international development organizations, trade and labor unions, civil society organizations and international guests to discuss the development impact of CSR. The forum explored the challenges and opportunities of establishing a comprehensive CSR policy in Ukraine, drew on tried-and-tested techniques. This was a candid event that presented CSR and Global Compact in a business-case context, respond to the bottom-line challenges and form the first national network/coalition on responsible businesses. The 2005-UN survey on 'Corporate Social Responsibility Trend in Ukraine' was presented first time during the forum.
