What is your company’s involvement with the Community? JSC «Rivnevtormet» was founded in 1991. The number of employees increased from 79 in 1991 to 137 people in the end of 2006, not counting employees of mineral water-plant and agricultural co-operatives. Special attention is paid to the employment of invalids. 15% of employees are pensioners who not only fulfill successfully their professional duties, but also share their experience with young employees of the company. JSC «Rivnevtormet» places big emphasis on charitable activity. Thus, we provide financial assistance to sick people, donate money for arranging celebrations for disabled people, veterans and support of the orphanages.
What is your company’s involvement with the environment? The main focus of JSC «Rivnevtormet» is, in the first place, storage, processing and sale of waste from ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The core activity guarantees removal of all kinds of metal consuming wastes out of the region to specialized metallurgical manufactures. One more area of activity is storage and sales of secondary wastes, such as paper, glass crash, wastes of PT-polymers. Currently, hundreds of tons of PT-polymers’ wastes are accumulated in the region, that damages the environment through agglomeration on waste dumps. The company initiated a separate collection of garbage in the town of Rivne. Later on, we plan to install the line of PT-polymers’ wastes processing into raw material such as granules and crush. This will give an opportunity to reduce waste agglomeration that damages natural environment in the region.
What does your company do at workplace in the frame of corporate social responsibility? JSC «Rivnevtormet» puts great emphasis on human factor since good human resources strategy is the basis for company’s success. Special attention is paid to the development of employees’ professional skills in the company. Thus, company’s employees participate in conferences, seminars, business meetings. 15–20 people improve annually their professional competence. In terms of the improvement of professional qualities, we conduct competitions of employees in different professions. We focus our attention on employees who improve company’s activities by good working practice. Every year, we give bonuses, certificates and other valuable presents to the best employees. We pay special attention to employees who work under harmful conditions, they are provided with compensation packages. Compensation system in the company is based on diversification principle.
What is your company’s practice of business ethics? Management of the company puts special emphasis on the problems of business ethics. Relations between management and subordinates are based on the principle of business partnership. We conduct public opinion polls concerning various issues related to company business. All mid-level managers are invited monthly to the meeting of the Board, where they participate in the discussion of urgent questions. The management also focuses on employees’ ability to maintain business contacts with partners which are based on such core principles as legality, decency and mutual respect. Special attention of the Board is paid to maintaining encouraging psychological environment, which is reflected in corporate celebration of major events or holidays.
